Kite Zone Salento is pleased to welcome you to its school that deals with an innovative sport that more and more people in Italy and around the world are passionate about: Kitesurfing!

This aquatic discipline, also called kitesurfing or kiteboarding is relatively recent, born around 1999 in the warm and windy waters of the Hawaiian Islands. It is the water sport that is spreading fastest ever and is practiced with a special board and a kite suspended 25 meters in the air to which the person is attached and thanks to it glides with his board on the water, doing countless acrobatics, jumps, and more ... Unlike windsurfing, kitesurfing can be practiced with winds considered "weak" allowing tricks, speeds and very important accelerations. Since October 2008, this sport has been made official by ISAF and with ideal conditions it is possible to practice the sport safely, simply gliding (freeriding), performing various evolutions or tricks (freestyle). It is possible to use the kite both on waves (wavestyle) and on flat water (wakestyle).

A good course of 15/16 hours on average provides the basis for a start of practice in complete safety and autonomy. Taking a course is not mandatory, but highly recommended. In fact, kitesurfing is a sport defined as extreme and, although modern materials have extended the guarantees of protection, without adequate preparation, some pitfalls remain. Our courses are divided into two moments, different in terms of commitment and difficulty:

• Approach course: theory of kitesurfing (terminology, study of winds, history of sport, didactic progression, safety) with printed didactic material, practice (preparation and assembly of kite and bar, study and practice of the flight window, first experience performance kite)
• Complete course: suitable for those who can no longer wait and want to learn quickly! You will be followed by your first approach until you reach the glide in the water. Availability is required at fixed times. The following will be: theory, school kite practice, proportionate kite practice (study and practice flight window and speed differences, first tractions on the beach, kite takeoff and landing), practice in the water (body dragging and control of the kite in the water, safety and relaunch of the wing, use of all the settings, go up the wind in bod drag), start and glide (simulation and practice of the start, first glide and control of the kite in pace, conclusions and advice).
• Private lessons: for those who prefer to learn or progress individually without time and day constraints.
