Volo Libero Bergamo, a sports association affiliated to the Italian Flight Federation, was founded many years ago with the aim of allowing everyone to discover the beauty of the world of flying.

The association organizes tourist flights in hang-gliding or paragliding without an engine, in the company of an expert instructor who will take you, in complete safety, to experience this splendid flight adventure.

Volo Libero Bergamo is also available to all those who wish to soar lightly in the sky on their own, organizing hang-gliding and paragliding courses.

The flights take place in the Palazzago area, where you will fly over the wonderful mountains surrounding Bergamo, an enviable gym for practicing this sport.

For those wishing to dedicate themselves to this activity, we provide courses to learn how to operate the aircraft independently. The hang gliding experience will begin with the tandem flights and, after the illustration of the flight equipment and the description of the procedures control, you will take flight.

After about fifteen tandem flights, the student will have achieved such familiarity with the machine and the maneuvers that he will be able to make his first solo flights in complete safety. During this second phase of the course, the student pilot quickly gets used to flying the hang glider solo, even though he will always be followed via radio by the instructor who will give him the correct suggestions from the ground at the right time. The new towing method allows numerous tests to be carried out, regardless of weather conditions.

Volo Libero Bergamo carries hang gliding lessons every day (from Monday to Sunday) and our teaching standards provide for a minimum duration of 4 months so that you can also take advantage of the currents thermal lifts.

Together with the practical exercises, theoretical lessons are carried out, in the evening on a day to be agreed upon, or in place of the practical lessons in the case of bad weather, where the topics relating to free flight will be explored in depth.

The paragliding course is made up of two levels:

• 1st Level (pitch) - On the school's "pitch" the flight equipment is illustrated and the take-off and landing procedures are described. The student practices these techniques repeatedly, first on flat surfaces and then on the slope. From the first few times you can get your first exciting deadlifts.

After a couple of training "camps", it is possible to fly at the controls of the two-seater paraglider in the company of the instructor.

In combination with the "campetto", in fact, some educational flights are planned with a two-seater paraglider, to teach the student the use of the controls in the first manoeuvres, accustom him to the sensations of flight, and prepare him for the solo debut.

Once these phases have been overcome, we proceed to carry out the first "high" flights which will take place with the student's personal equipment: the choice of glider will be made in the company of the instructor who will help the student to choose the sail best suited to its weight.

• 2nd level ("high" flight) - It takes place only in optimal weather conditions, and in constant radio contact with the instructors during take-off and landing. During this phase, exercises are carried out to enable the student to learn all the maneuvers necessary for driving the vehicle and achievefamiliarity such as to guarantee mastery and absolute safety.

The duration of the Free Flight Bergamo course depends on the weather conditions and the student, however it never exceeds 4 months.
