Associazione Sportiva Grmada

The Grmada Sports Association was founded in the mid-eighties to give space to its vocation in the field of Nordic skiing and roller skiing, then enriched with a section dedicated to Speleology and is an effective member of the important speleological bodies in the area:

• the Slovenian Speleological Federation (Jamarska zveza Slovenije),
• the Triestina Speleological Federation,
• the Regional Speleological Federation of Friuli-Venezia Giulia,
• the Italian Speleological Society.

Strengthened by the new blood and vitality infused by the speleological section at the end of the eighties, the Grmada Sports Association began to expand and strengthen its structure, obtaining recognition from other speleological bodies and mountaineering from Trieste and Slovenia, which led to the inclusion of a further section dedicated to sport climbing.

In the speleological field, the association is involved in organizing trekking inside the cavities that are easier for the public to access and organizes outreach and information activities aimed at elementary and middle schools in the province.
