The Alto Salento Speleological Center has been active since '97 when it took the place of the older Martina Cave Documentation Centre, of which it maintains its headquarters, members and above all spirit of resourcefulness.
As in its previous formation, the center maintains its exploratory and documentary character regarding the karst environment, which makes it the primary study objective of its expeditions and research. These research are joined by the artificial hypogea that dot the area and which are of great importance from a cultural and anthropological point of view.
The current configuration of the C.S.A.S. is that of an aggregation of speleologists with different experiences and coming from other groups, who have enriched the group's training offer with their knowledge and make up the highly stimulating panorama in which the new "levers" are immersed.
