Becoming part of the Eugenio Boegan Caves Commission offers the great privilege and prestige of becoming part of the oldest speleological society in the world. Born under the name of "Comitato alle Grotte" of the Society of Triestine Mountaineers, the society has been active continuously since 23 March 1883.
The Commission is the driving force of the Julian Alpine Society for the speleology sector.
The many years of activity of the speleological group equate to years of successes and projects and the presence in practically all the great transformations that have involved the field of speleology. In fact, the commission also played a leading role in the foundation of the National School of Speleology of the Italian Alpine Club, due to the great importance it has always recognized in the educational field, as an indispensable effort for the diffusion and progression of this practice.
Our activity is a real vocation and for this reason we want to spread it, to involve new users and broaden the group of enthusiasts interested in the preservation of this great historical and scientific heritage.
