On 25 May 1966, at the Cagliari Section of the Italian Alpine Club, a group of speleology enthusiasts, coming from the Speleo Club of Cagliari, following the split of their group which had occurred a few days earlier, with some CAI members decided to establish a Caves Group within the Alpine Club itself.
Our first equipment was certainly rudimentary and would certainly cause at least hilarity today, with ladders and hemp ropes, but even then our passion was totally mature, which led us to grow over the years and develop as a group.
Today the Gruppo Grotte Cagliari is a concrete reality, which continues to experience Speleology with the same, beneficial, enthusiasm and which seeks to spread this fascinating practice through knowledge.
In addition to excursions, the Cagliari Cave Group also organizes introductory courses to speleology: contact the group directly for information regarding the two areas.
