Born as a section of the local CAI, the Gruppo Speleo-alpinistico Cinghiali has the official date of creation of its statute and its formation as an association, 20 December 1994, by eight signatories who were passionate about studies of the underground type.
The initial group is made up of mountaineering experts, moved by a great love for the mountains and the desire to also be able to appreciate its interior, two of whom have long hung out among the associations dedicated to speleo.
The need to give a more stable and serious form to the expeditions that fueled this passion was the driving force that gave space to the idea of creating the association. The name takes inspiration from the amused and ironic character that is the philosophy of this serious group, but with a great desire to experience speleology without forgetting that it is, first of all, a passion.
Having learned the rope progression techniques from the entire first group, the real practical activity began, first by visiting previously reported cavities, then pushing into the open field of research and discovery.
