Twenty years of life and commitment have made this non-profit association, dedicated to urban speleology, a point of reference for enthusiasts and curious of this discipline.
The Cavità Cagliaritane Speleological Group operates in the cavities of the Sardinian capital, an area already rich in natural cavities of karst origin, and with a great wealth also from the point of view of the cavities generated in history by human intervention. extractive as cultural (ancient sepulchres) and established by necessity (water supply conduits).
Thus, from the passion and interest of this young group, important excursions in the city were born, such as those inside the important Sant'Arennera mine and the Phoenician-Punic and, subsequently, Roman necropolis located near the Tuvixeddu hill.
The commitment of the G.S. it is not only aimed at the study but also at the denunciation of the many and unfortunately real situations of abandonment in which many of the underground streets of the city lie, a real loss from a historical and research point of view.
For this reason, among the primary objectives of the company is undoubtedly that of raising public awareness for the recovery and preservation of the exceptional archaeological value of these cavities.
