The Italian Speleological Society is a free association that addresses and brings together Italian speleologists and has its main objective in the promotion and fomentation of correct interaction between explorers and the environments that surround them object of study.
The field of action, whether driven by research, study or for more touristic purposes, are, literally, the "known voids" of the mountains, i.e. caves, water drainage routes that have dug their own course inside the rock face or in a frozen environment and, again, lava tubes, rearrangements resulting from collapses and much more.
The work of speleologists takes place in this environment, through explorations and surveys that bring to the surface data and characteristics regarding this particular environment.
