Description of Excursion to the Gorgonero pond (4h)This excursion will take you to the knowledge of the most incredible and interesting landscapes present in the Parco delle Madonie a stone's throw from Palermo.
The excursion will start from Petralia Sottana where we will visit the Gorgonero pond, rich in native natural species such as violets, primroses, cyclamens, anemones and cedars while in the adjacent wood you can walk among chestnut trees, pines and hollies in an absolutely uncontaminated environment.
Continuing the excursion you will arrive at Pizzo Catarineci , the last hill of the Madonie complex, where there is a large grassy plain with numerous springs. After a few hundred meters you will arrive in Vallone Scopalacqua where we can cool off with the fresh spring water.
The highlight of the walk will be at Piano Catarinec i where you will find in front of your eyes a green expanse populated by various horses living in the state wild . From here we will enter the return route with departure which will be scheduled at around 3pm.
We recommend the use of comfortable material and sneakers in order not to restrict movement.
