Come and discover one of the greatest examples of a mannerist suburban Renaissance villa, the incredible Palazzo Te!
Formerly located in the center of Lake Mantua, now dried up, it was built for Federico II Gonzaga in the first half of the 1500s, at the hands of Giulio Romano .
Since its origins, the palace has always overlooked the magnificent gardens which had the task of brightening the guests' stay, in imitation of the ancient Roman villas.
The external facades are characterized by the ashlar workmanship of the walls and, inside, the building is structured around a large central courtyard closed on all four sides and surrounded by Doric columns.
Visiting the interiors of the villa, it will be possible to appreciate splendid frescoes: the interior decoration project was entirely signed by Giulio Romano: from the fireplaces to the floors, he took care of every small detail, and then entrusted its execution to trusted collaborators.
Today, therefore, it is possible to admire the result by visiting the entire palace and beyond: it will be possible to enter the museum of the palace to appreciate the numerous works of art kept inside.
