The Synagogue of Florence is the point of reference for the city's Jewish community. Inaugurated in 1882, it is one of the most significant examples of the exotic Moorish artistic style with Arab and Byzantine elements.
Come visit the synagogue and discover the Jewish tradition of the city. The synagogue is a repository of Jewish art and was built to compete with Florentine Renaissance architecture. Its copper-green dome is a point of reference in the panorama of the city.
The museum instead collects various ceremonial objects from the period, as well as a historiography of the events of the city's Jewish community. There is also a memorial to the Holocaust victims belonging to the community and a collection of the events that the Tuscan Jews suffered during the Second World War. The museum also has an assorted library of Jewish texts, as well asa panoramic viewof both the prayer hall and the city of Florence.
The synagogue is a place open to everyone, believers or not, which thanks to the museum wants to promote and inform about the importance that the Jewish community had in the city. Don't miss this artistic/cultural visit and come and visit us!
