Associazione Speleologica Acquasantana

Acquasantana Speleological Association has as its premise the dissemination of the culture, discipline and spirit that underlie Speleology.

The center organizes Speleology and Canyoning courses in the territory which is partly included in the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park.

The Acquasantana Speleological Association has remote roots since 1936 it dealt with the karst system of the area, after a few years the activity has slowed down due to a lack of children, but in 1982 it actively resumed research reaching results of considerable interest. discovering and locating new cavities, drawing up maps on the system of caves present in the territory of the Laga and Rio Garrafo and organizing excursions and courses to bring anyone closer to the fantastic and mysterious underground world with safety and joy.

The Acquasantana Speleological Association offers the opportunity to experience emotions immersed in unspoiled natural landscapes of incomparable beauty.

The Speleological Association Acquasantana Canyoning offers excursions in the streams in the territory included in the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park.

The association will make you experience a great emotion descending through various streams such as the Forra di Pito. You will descend along the escarpment until you reach the stream.

You start with a 4m jump to the left, followed by two more.

Then you get to the heart of the itinerary: an alternation of descents and pools (the first descent that you face is about 13 meters and leads to the first pool and here is another 16 meter flight with a pool at the end), that can be tackled with equipment available and above all with the right conditions of time and water flow.

After you continue for 5 minutes between small tubs and here is a nice toboggan with a very treacherous tunnel that overlooks a tub that is no longer suction. After the pool continue to the Torrentello with some beautiful toboggans and after 30 minutes a last jump of about 8 meters takes you directly to the Confluence of the Garrafo.

The whole excursion is carried out with optimal capacity and with about 6 people in 3 hours.
