Red Devils is a nautical club born in 1995 on the initiative of Air Force enthusiasts with the aim of bringing military personnel closer to the sport of sailing.
The center is affiliated with FIV, and has its headquarters at the former seaplane base in Desenzano.
The club is open during the summer from April to September where it organizes sailing courses. Courses generally take place on weekends and are taught by federation-qualified instructors. The school organizes the following courses:
- Initiation: The course is aimed at introducing beginners to the fundamentals of sailing. The goal is to enable the student to steer a sailboat safely. Topics covered: Nomenclature and boat rigging, sailing, tacking, gybing, capsizing, nautical knots and rules of precedence, safety. (18 hours divided into weekends).
- Improvement: it aims to deepen, for those who already have the basic knowledge of sailing, some theoretical and practical aspects that allow the student to reach a good level of preparation and autonomy. Topics covered are: Propulsion, sail adjustment, mooring, use of the spinnaker, trapeze, reverse gear, safety. (15 hours divided into a weekend).
- Altura - Bulbous boats: for those who are already experts in sailing and wish to deepen the problems related to competitive sailing. The topics covered are: starting regatta regulations, choice of edge, meteorology, study of regatta fields, sails change, reefing, use of steering wheels, anchors, moorings, safety. (15 hours divided into a weekend).
