The Meridiana Sailing Vela is a school that organizes sailing courses for those who are already experienced or for anyone who is fascinated by the sea and sailing and wants to try this new and exciting experience. The school is based in Marina di Grosseto.

The courses will take place on boats of 12-13 meters perfectly equipped for deep sea navigation in complete safety.

Sailing lessons are organized on weekends from October to April with the full-immersion formula. This type of formula consists of theoretical lessons in the evening in port, and overnight stay on board, thus taking advantage of every moment to learn about navigation, knowledge of the boat, and of life on board, in order to arrive at the end of the path to be able to drive the sailing boat safely in every situation.

The sailing courses are divided into three levels and are activated continuously even with only three students.

The courses are:

• Basic course: nomenclature, sleeper and current maneuvers, wind (real, apparent, direction) rigging, gaits, wind rose, sail adjustment, sail reduction, hood, man overboard recovery, safety, knots.
• Intermediate course: all the material of the previous course plus motor navigation, anchors, moorings, rules for avoiding collisions, weather forecasts (sky observation barometer, bulletins), use of instruments, compass navigation.
• Advanced course: all the previous plus complete correspondence, position locations, surveys, declination, deviation, true bows and compass, route tracking, offshore and night navigation, shifts, emergencies.
