A certified guidefrom thePuglia region will accompany you to discover this famous city which was the scene of the great battle, precisely called "di Cannae" during which Hannibal strong>, at the head of the Carthaginian army, defeated the Roman battalion.
The Battle of Canne took place in what is now the countryside of the city of Barletta and is remembered not only as the most important battle of the Second Punic War but also one of the most striking examples of tactical encirclement.
The visit will unfold among the remains of the Roman Citadel with interesting notions on this historical period, but will also concern other eras of the history of this location, through the traces of human settlements that from the prehistoric period to the medieval era, passing through the classical and Apulian-Greek periods, with visits to the necropolis and the "Antiquarium" museum.
The latter preserves an interesting collection of painted Daunian-Peucetian vases whose creation dates back to a period between the 4th and 3rd centuries BC.
