Description of Visit to the city of Bari and Basilica San Nicola
We offer you here a splendid opportunity to visit the beautiful city of Bari, accompanied by a certified guide who will show you all the beauties of this architectural pearl of great historical importance, overlooking the Adriatic Sea.
During the excursion, which will last approximately three hours, you will be able to admire the riches of the Apulian capital, walking through the streets of "old Bari" admiring its Romanesque churches and the castle dating back to the Middle Ages.
Our excursion will not fail to take you to the most famous squares of the city and will also leave you with plenty of free time to do some shopping or enjoy the good weather in a city bar.
The tour will wind through various key points of the city's tourist itineraries with great attention to the splendid Romanesque cathedral dedicated to Saint Nicholas, the bishop of Myra, sanctified by both the Catholic and Orthodox religions, of which the cathedral preserves the remains, whose figure is at the origin of the birth of the myth of Santa Claus.
The visit will then move to the beautiful cathedral of San Sabino, consecrated in 1292, and to the Norman-Swabian castle, a building commissioned in its first era by Ruggiero the Norman, from the troubled history which saw its almost complete destruction by William I of Sicily and a subsequent rebuilding at the behest of Emperor Frederick II Hohenstaufen of Swabia.
Before leaving the group for some free time to go shopping or relax, we will visit the Piazza Mercantile and the Column of Justice, located in the port area of Bari.
