Description of Museo Stibbert

Come and discover a magical and unique place, in beautiful Florence!

We are talking about the Stibbert Museum, founded by a memorable character to whom it owes its name,Frederick Stibbert, whose origins were half English, on his father's side, and half Italian, on the mother's side.

Stibbert was born into a military family: his father was a colonel of theColdstream Guards and his grandfather was governor general of Bengal, India.

It is thanks to the latter that Frederick inherits considerable wealth, which allows him to found what he calls a museum and to take care of it over the years.

The museum that stands on the Montughi hill consists of his personal collection and, to date, belongs to the city of Florence, to which he left it in inheritance the same owner before he died.

Now the structure is managed by the Foundation, which takes care of its maintenance and the diffusion of its history, thanks to the range of activities and tours that are offered to the public: independently or with a guide, there are several ways to discover this magical place.
