Guide Speleo Abruzzo Speleology offers you the opportunity to explore the most hidden and secret caves and ravines in the company of the most expert and enthusiastic guides to teach you all our knowledge!
Speleology was born as a scientific discipline in 1800, like many others thanks to the formidable push of the Enlightenment thought of the previous century. We can even find Leonardo Da Vinci exploring, in truth very fearfully, caves in the Lombardy pre-Alps, while in the Gran Sasso the almost unknown figure of Francesco De Marchi, captain and military architect of Princess Margherita of Austria. The spirit with which he moves in exploring the cave leads us to say that he was the first to visit a cave from the perspective of a speleologist.
Currently speleology is a multidisciplinary activity that is carried out within speleological groups. Basically you need to have the technical ability to know how to move safely in environments that are by definition hostile, and at least, if you want to be considered a speleologist, know how to make a topographical survey of the cave and report on what you have seen and explored.
All this is perhaps too much for those who simply have the curiosity to visit a cave, without having acquired the necessary skills. The speleological guide in this case is the professional figure of reference to make visiting a cave possible for everyone. Of course, it is obvious that not all caves can be tackled by novices: the speleological guide is able to evaluate the client's movement capabilities and adapt the level of difficulty of the exit to this ability, just as he is able to technically train the client to prepare him for new and more challenging adventures.
