Come and discover the incredible Villa d'Este, in Tivoli, in the province of Rome.
In 2001 it was proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage Site, representing one of the most important examples along the peninsula of an Italian garden: let yourself be enchanted by its impressive fountains, caves and games of water, which will transport you to a timeless world.
We owe the credit for such beauty to Cardinal Ippolito II d'Este, who decided to re-propose, in Tivoli, the majesty of the courts of Ferrara and Rome, obviously taking inspiration from the very famous Hadrian's Villa.
The architectural project of the Villa was conceived by the painter and architect Pirro Ligorio and subsequently created by the court architect Alberto Galvani.
The building was then painted by the main artists of the late Roman mannerist era.
Over the centuries it was subject to numerous interventions, until it entered its decadent era, from which it emerged thanks to the restoration works requested by CardinalGustav Adolf von Hohenlohe.
Owned by the Italian state since the 1920s, it is now completely restored and open to the public.
