Trekking in Valle Otro (Valsesia) with transport

Italian Mountains offers you a fantastic itinerary in one of the most evocative alpine settings in the Alps.
We will guide you in the Valle d'Otro, in Valsesia, a "suspended valley" due to its typical morphology produced by glacial erosion but above all for the panorama that unfolds before us almost suddenly.
A trekking itinerary of medium difficulty including personalized car transport from the hotel or train station for arrivals from Milan, to the location of the excursion.

The valley constitutes a large plateau at an altitude of 1,660 m above sea level, framed by a jagged range of mountains including the Tagliaferro (2964 m above sea level) and the Corno Bianco (3320 m above sea level), in which six small hamlets arise, which retain all today magnificent examples of Walser architecture.

The traditional Walser huts with their traditional external wooden weaving surround a small 15th century church, with a richly frescoed façade, in the middle of a breathtaking panorama, enclosed between the peaks: the first and unforgettable image that will present itself to hikers once they leave the path.

The houses present form the villages of Follu, Dorf, Scarpia and other neighboring villages, while the Pian Misura Alp leaves room for a new panorama, with the traditional architectural style of the Western Alps, with load-bearing stone walls and gneiss roofs.

Program:

• Collection of participants arriving from Milan at Arona station (typical times contained in the "transport" section or in any case adaptable to public transport proposals) or collection with direct pick up at hotels and B&Bs for stays in Arona, Orta or neighboring towns . In both cases at 7.30.
• Stop at the market to purchase food and drinks
• Trekking up to Alpe Follù (approximately 2:00 hours),
• Alagna Valsesia 1205 m above sea level – Alpe Follù 1664 m above sea level,
• Stop for a packed lunch
• Possible (if snow permits) further ascent up to Pran Misura 1782 m above sea level,
• Possible (if snow permits) further ascent to the viewpoint of the old cable car 1824 m above sea level,
• 2.30 pm Trekking down to Alagna Valsesia: (approximately 1.45 hours)
• Alagna Valsesia 4.45pm, transfer by car (85 km),
• Arrival at Arona station at 6.45pm (the first Arona-Milan Porta Garibaldi train departs at 7.03pm and arrives at 8.12pm.

During the journey you will have different customization possibilities to make your excursion even more unforgettable and suited to your desires; possibility of:

• stop for tasting and purchasing typical Valsesia products along the road,
• visit to the Sacro Monte di Varallo (world heritage site – UNESCO);
•visit to the traditional village of Rassa in the Tremendi valley.

For those who wish, we can extend the excursion until a time that allows them to return to Milan Pt Garibaldi with the 8.50pm train.
