The course of the river measures about 40 km with a difference in height of 370 m.

Canoeing is undoubtedly one of the most exciting and difficult river sports and tackling the gorges of the Lao river always turns out to be an adrenaline-pumping and unforgettable experience!

Along the approximately 40 km of the Lao river (in the Pollino National Park), the Rafting Explorer Lao Kayak Center organizes adrenaline-pumping descents along the gorges starting from Laino Borgo onwards.

In this stretch the Lao river has a flow that makes it practicable even in the summer months with a level of difficulty ranging from II and III degree (of the dry river) up to IV degree (in the case of winter floods).

Kayaking requires determination, coordination, physical strength, technique and character from those who participate.

At Rafting Explorer Lao Canyoning you can enjoy fun canyoning experiences in the Pollino National Park.

The program of the Center proposes various itineraries and the technical material for progression, as well as the relative instructions for correct use, are provided by the guides:

• Itinerary 1 - Municipality of Papasidero / Cassesu Stream (suitable for all those who want to approach canyoning for the first time)
• Itinerary 2 - Castiglione / Papasidero (medium difficulty route; totally aquatic with the exception of the approach and exit sections from the gorge; characteristic of this excursion is the presence of an exposed abseil of about 30 meters)
• Itinerary 3 - FicaTorta / Verbicaro (purely technical technical route, but suitable for all those who have good physicality)

By contacting our Center you can agree with the guides the type of descent that is right for you, choosing between simple proposals suitable for families and demanding challenges for the most die-hard sportsmen:

• Classic Route - duration 3 hours; stretch Papasidero / Orsomarso; practicable all year round; you need to be in good physical condition and not be afraid of water
• Integral Calssic Path - duration 4 hours; stretch Papasidero / Confluence of the Argentino River Orsomarso; practicable all year round; you need to be in good physical condition and not be afraid of water; a succession of technical rapids in the name of adventure and fun to experience an intense and wild rafting
• Pirate Route - duration 5 hours; stretch Grotta del Romito / Papasidero; available from March to November; you need to be in good physical condition and not be afraid of water; unique experience among unforgettable natural sceneries in the gorges of the Lao river, waves of pure fun and energy
• Gorges Route - duration 5 hours; stretch Laino Borgo / Grotta del Romito; available from March to November; you need to be in good physical condition and not be afraid of water

The Rafting Explorer Lao Rafting Center provides its customers, at no additional cost, with complete technical clothing approved according to CE specifications.

The guides select the route based on the weather conditions, the water level of the river, the number and physical preparation of the participants.

Before each rafting descent there is a theoretical lesson that explains the principles of the discipline and how to behave in all situations.

A dry land test is carried out to learn the position in the dinghy and the correct and effective paddling to have fun at best while limiting efforts.

The duration of the activities varies from 3 to 5 hours and a third-party liability insurance coverage is included in the participation fee.

At the Rafting Explorer Lao Hydrospeed Center you can have fun practicing this adventurous discipline born in France and practiced by many water sports lovers.

We offer our guests courses and guided Hydrospeed descents on the Lao river, with a safe, gradual and at the same time engaging approach!

The first guided descent is preceded by a short theoretical lesson given by an expert instructor.

The stretch to be covered is chosen by the guide of the Center based on the swimming aptitude of the participants and the equipment provided by the organization includes:

• hydrospeed (bob in plastic material, floating and resistant, on which to lie down)
• fins (the same as those used in underwater activities)
• wetsuit (jacket and dungarees in 5 mm reinforced neoprene)
• neoprene boots
• helmet and safety life jacket

The descents in the water last on average between 2 and 4 hours:

• Classic descent (2 hours)
• Classic Integral Descent (about 3 hours)
• Pirate Descent (3.5 hours)
• Descent of the Gorges (5 hours)

The Center Rafting Explorer Lao Paragliding offers you the opportunity to make tourist / educational flights every day in Praia a Mare (CS), accompanied by instructors certified by the Aero Club of Italy!

No particular physical skills are required to live this fantastic experience, as paragliding is a simple discipline suitable for everyone!

The launch is carried out from a spot at an altitude of 600 meters, which allows you to admire in flight the whole panorama of the coast of Praia a Mare and the splendid Island of Dino.

The instructors will provide all the preliminary instructions for the launch in a few minutes and the flight will last approximately 15-20 minutes.

The landing is soft and, if we were interested, it is possible to have a video and photographic memory.

The Rafting Explorer Lao Trekking Center organizes guided excursions in the Argentino River Valley - Orsomarso.

The starting point is the headquarters of the center, from which you move towards the Oriented Nature Reserve "Valle del Fiume Argentino" (in the Pollino National Park) and continue with a visit to Orsomarso.

It is one of the most fascinating areas of southern Italy, characterized by wild nature and dominated by woods with varied vegetation and by a fauna that is home to the last specimens of native roe deer (there are also wild boars, foxes, hares, martens , martens, weasels, hedgehogs, black squirrels, numerous poultry species with important colonies of diurnal and nocturnal birds of prey).

The route is simple and lasts the whole day (departure at 10.00 and return at 18.00). On request it is also possible to make more challenging routes.

Rafting Explorer Lao Speleology offers you the opportunity to visit the beautiful cave located in Località Palazzo (Municipality of Orsomarso) in the heart of the Pollino Park. The route includes a total travel time of 8 hours (3 hours of trekking and 5 hours in the cave) with a total height difference of 571 meters above sea level.

The Palazzo cave is one of the most beautiful in the upper Tyrrhenian coast of Cosenza and appears to the visitor as a large cave with a vault of about 18 meters, inside which the guides put on specific harnesses and provide instructions for the visit .

The cave is almost horizontal along its entire length and is made up of two branches:

• the lower one is poorly shaped, with small limestone conformations and in it there is the resurgence of the homonymous stream;
• the high one can be reached by overcoming a difference in height of about 9 meters by means of a speleo ladder; it is rich in conformations that make it unique in its kind

Access to the cave is also allowed for children under the age of 8 (accompanied by a parent or guardian).
