The guides of the Rafting Explorer Lao Canoe Center will accompany you on splendid adventures along the course of the Lao river, in the Pollino National Park.

The course of the river measures approximately 40 km with a height difference of 370 m.

Canoeing is undoubtedly one of the most exciting and difficult river sports and tackling the gorges of the Lao River always proves to be an adrenaline-filled and unforgettable experience!

The equipment can be rented at the same Rafting Explorer Lao Canoe Center and competent guides will provide you with useful instructions to tackle the route safely.

Along approximately 40 km of the Lao river (in the Pollino National Park), the Rafting Explorer Lao Kayak Center organizes adrenaline-filled descents along the gorges that start from Laino Borgo onwards.

In this stretch the Lao river has a flow rate that makes it passable even in the summer months with a level of difficulty that varies from grade II and III (for a dry river) up to grade IV (in the case of winter floods).

Kayaking requires determination, coordination, physical strength, technique and character from those who participate.

You too can rely on the expert instructors of the Rafting Explorer Lao Kayak Center and come and experience spectacular sporting experiences immersed in one of the most evocative scenarios in Calabria.

At the Rafting Explorer Lao Canyoning you can enjoy fun canyoning experiences in the Pollino National Park.

The Center's program offers various itineraries and the technical material for progression, as well as the relative instructions for correct use, are provided by the guides:

• Itinerary 1 - Municipality of Papasidero/Torrente Cassesu (suitable for all those who want to approach canyoning for the first time)
• Itinerary 2 - Castiglione/Papasidero (route of medium difficulty; totally aquatic with the exception of the sections approaching and exiting the gorge; characteristic of this excursion is the presence of an exposed descent of approximately 30 m)
• Itinerary 3 - FicaTorta/Verbicaro (technical route, purely technical, but suitable for all those who have a good physique)

By contacting our Center you can agree with the guides on the type of descent that is right for you, choosing between simple proposals suitable for families and demanding challenges for the most die-hard sportsmen:

• Classic route - duration 3 hours; Papasidero/Orsomarso section; can be done all year round; you need to be in good physical condition and not be afraid of water
• Integral Classical Course - duration 4 hours; Papasidero/Confluence Argentino River Orsomarso section; can be done all year round; you must be in good physical condition and not be afraid of water; a succession of rapid techniques in the name of adventure and fun to experience intense and wild rafting
• Pirate Route - duration 5 hours; Grotta del Romito/Papasidero section; can be carried out from March to November; you must be in good physical condition and not be afraid of water; unique experience among unforgettable natural scenery in the gorges of the Lao River, waves of pure fun and energy
• Gorge route - duration 5 hours; Laino Borgo/Grotta del Romito section; can be carried out from March to November; you need to be in good physical condition and not be afraid of water

The Rafting Explorer Lao Rafting Center provides its customers, at no additional cost, with complete technical clothing approved according to CE specifications.

The guides select the route based on the weather conditions, the river water level, the number and physical preparation of the participants.

Before each rafting descent there is a theoretical lesson that explains the principles of the discipline and how to behave in all situations.

A test is carried out on dry land to learn the position in the dinghy and the correct and effective paddling to have the best fun while limiting efforts.

The duration of the activities varies from 3 to 5 hours and TPL insurance coverage is included in the participation fee

We offer our guests Hydrospeed courses and guided descents on the Lao River, with a safe, gradual and at the same time engaging approach!

The first guided descent is preceded by a short theoretical lesson held by an expert instructor.

The stretch to follow is chosen by the Center guide based on the swimming aptitude of the participants and the equipment provided by the organization includes:

• hydrospeed (bob in plastic material, floating and resistant, on which to lie down)
• fins (same as those used in underwater activities)
• wetsuit (jacket and dungarees in 5 mm reinforced neoprene)
• neoprene socks
• helmet and safety life jacket

Descents into the water last on average between 2 and 4 hours:

• Classic descent (2 hours)
• Classic Full Descent (about 3 hours)
• Pirate Descent (3.5 hours)
• Descent Gole (5 hours)

The Rafting Explorer Lao Paragliding Center offers you the possibility of carrying out tourist/educational flights every day in Praia a Mare (CS), accompanied by instructors certified by the Aero Club of Italy!

No particular physical skills are needed to enjoy this fantastic experience, as paragliding is a simple discipline suitable for everyone!

The launch is carried out from a spot at an altitude of 600 metres, which allows you to admire the entire panorama of the Praia a Mare coast and the splendid Dino Island from the air.

The instructors will provide all the preliminary instructions to the launch in a few minutes and the flight lasts approximately 15-20 minutes.

The landing is soft and, if you are interested, it is possible to have a video and photographic memory.

The Rafting Explorer Lao Trekking Center organizes guided excursions in the Argentine River Valley - Orsomarso.

The starting point is the centre, from which you move in the direction of the "Argentino River Valley" Oriented Nature Reserve (in the Pollino National Park) and continue with a visit to Orsomarso.

It is one of the most fascinating areas of southern Italy, characterized by wild nature and dominated by woods with varied vegetation and a fauna that is home to the last specimens of native roe deer (there are also wild boars, foxes, hares, martens , martens, weasels, hedgehogs, black squirrels, numerous avian species with important colonies of diurnal and nocturnal birds of prey).

The route is simple and lasts the whole day (departure at 10.00 am, return at 6.00 pm). On request it is also possible to undertake more demanding routes.

Rafting Explorer Lao Speleologia offers you the opportunity to visit the beautiful cave located in Località Palazzo (Municipality of Orsomarso) in the heart of the Pollino Park. The route requires a total travel time of 8 hours (3 hours of trekking and 5 of the cave) with a total difference in altitude of 571 meters above sea level.

The Palazzo cave is among the most beautiful in the upper Tyrrhenian Sea of Cosenza and presents itself to the visitor as a large cave with a vault of approximately 18 metres, inside which the guides put on specific harnesses and provide instructions for the visit .

The cave is almost horizontal along its entire length and is made up of two branches:

• the lower one is poorly shaped, with small limestone conformations and in it is the resurgence of the stream of the same name;
• the high one can be reached by overcoming a difference in height of approximately 9 meters using a speleo ladder; it is rich in conformations that make it unique in its kind

Access to the cave is also permitted for children aged no less than 8 years (accompanied by a parent or guardian).
